These Bumkins Superbibs are the best bibs ever. Eva lost one (or I lost one) and I can’t find it anywhere, so I ordered 3 more, just in case. There is no other bib that works for her as well. It fits perfectly and is easy to wipe off or even throw in the wash if it’s really messy. She can take it off herself, but that’s okay, she tells me when she’s done eating and then takes her bib off and holds her hands out to be washed, so that’s her normal routine. I try to keep one in my purse at all times in case we stop to eat somewhere.

Food Items for New Kitchen

I placed a big order with Vitacost for some spices, dry goods, rice, oatmeal, laundry detergent etc. so we’d have some things when we move in. Vitacost and Amazon have pretty good prices on organic items, so I might set up an automatic delivery order of items we use regularly, so I can eliminate those from my shopping trip. I got a few “different” things to try like Mung Bean Fettuchini and Sprouted Grain Pasta. The mung bean noodles sound a little weird, but I thought it’d be fun to try. The sprouted grain pasta is very expensive, but healthier than regular pasta and I don’t like to eat a lot of pasta regularly anyways. So, maybe that will be a sometimes item. I like the size of the Simply Organic spice containers and they are glass too, so I might buy spices in bulk normally and just refill those containers. You can get a $10 coupon for Vitacost by creating an account with them using this link 🙂

“Quiet” by Susan Cain

I really enjoyed this book: “Quiet” by Susan Cain. I am definitely an introvert and love my solitary times. I can make myself be an extrovert when I want to and I guess it’s good to have that ability, but some of my favorite moments are when I can be in absolute silence with a book or taking a walk by myself and just hearing the birds and my own thoughts. As a kid, I always thought something was wrong with me and wished that I could be an extroverted person and wished I was comfortable talking with anyone, but, like this book describes, all personalities are important and vital to society and many of the greatest geniuses in our world were introverts and they needed that desire and ability to focus when they were alone in order to come up with their amazing inventions and discoveries. Even though I am an adult and I know the value of various personality types, it was just cool to read the scientific evidence and be reassured that introverts do have special gifts and abilities that extroverts just do not have. And vice versa 🙂

What Eva is Getting for Christmas

I thought it’d be fun to write a post about what I got Eva for Christmas. Previously, I thought I liked the idea of getting in the habit of buying each child 3 gifts at Christmastime, sorta to emulate the 3 gifts from the wise men to Jesus. So, I still like that idea, but I ended up getting Eva 5 gifts this year, and that’s okay, I didn’t make anyone a promise or anything, so it’ll be alright.

I have to confess, I have a really bad memory. Blame motherhood or being pregnant, or whatever you want, but right now as I look at her 5 gifts, there is one gift that I cannot for the life of me, remember what it is.

Eva Gifts

I won’t apologize for my poor gift-wrapping skills, because I have other talents, and gift-wrapping and/or decorating is not one of them 🙂 Anyways, here is what I know I did get her:

Uncle Goose Classic Blocks I like classic toys that are made in the U.S. with natural materials. These blocks are actually made in Michigan, so I loved that and they are beautiful and will probably last forever through many kids.

Jumbo Coloring Pad Eva is a coloring fanatic!

Crayola Crayons It’s hard to have too many crayons.

Tea Set This one I bought a long time ago and I wasn’t sure when I was going to give it to her. I’m trying to get in the habit of buying gifts throughout the year when I see something on sale and then keeping it for the next occasion instead of running out at the last minute so the tea set was from one of those occasions.

And the last item, it’s a medium sized rectangular thing, I really just don’t remember what it is, so we’ll both be surprised when she opens it.

***UPDATE 12/26/13: The other package was 2 books we got from Costco, one on “What People Do” and “Noah’s Ark”. Totally forgot I bought those 🙂
